I Timothy 2:1-2 I exhort you, therefore that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, (2) for kings, and all that are in authority that you may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
I Timothy 4:8 But bodily exercise profits a little but godliness is profitable unto all things having a promise of the life that is now and of that which is to come.
I Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness.
Godliness often goes hand and hand with holiness, in the Strong’s Concordance it is used fourteen times as holiness, but in the verses above it is divided into two words “eu” meaning well and “sebo” meaning to worship, or devout, God fearing. Putting these words together in English we have well worship or worship well. And if you put these words instead of godliness in the above verses they fit.
God wants us to worship Him and He tells us it is profitable in this life and that which is to come. How exciting!! Not only is it profitable but when we are contented in worshipping God it brings great gain. When true worship happens it brings the tangible presence of God, and in His presence it brings change. And it only can be good. Is there anything better than it?
We serve an awesome God and it is difficult not to worship Him when we see His mercy and grace in our lives.
