Let Freedom Ring

I am grateful to be free. Not only am I blessed to live in a country where I have the right to be free, but I also live in a world, created by God, who grants me the right to choose freedom in Him.

For a very long time, I have been asking God to walk with me each day. Today, Freedom Day, my prayer changes. Today, I not only ask Him to walk with me, but I ask Him to walk in me. I want the Spirit of the LORD to take over the helm of my ship, to be the pilot of my plane, the driver of my car. Walking beside me seemed to be working for a while but as our time together has grown, I have come to realize I need to be closer. I need Him to be with AND in, I need Him to be within me.

This is the keen understanding I have been missing all along, it is exactly why I have been prone to stumbling along the way. I have been asking God to be alongside me but not within me. I had not given Him complete control over my life. It is only when I invite Him inside that He truly has a communal relationship with me. To me, it began to feel like inviting someone to my home but keeping them on the porch or in the yard, never letting them inside where I spend the majority of my time, especially my most intimate time.

Today, I want Him within my soul and my spirit, inside where I truly reside. I want to stop holding Him at bay, like He’s merely a spectator of my life, and start allowing Him within. It is when I grant His Spirit complete freedom to reside within me that I receive the true fruits of freedom which are freedom from substance abuse, freedom from psychological slavery, freedom from physical enslavement, freedom from shame, freedom from regret, and so much more.

It is only when we let His Spirit reside within us that we are truly set free.

Let freedom ring.

Now the Lord is the Spirit,

and where the Spirit of the Lord is,

there is freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17
